If you are looking for strategies for effective use of cross-curricular ICT. This course aims to help you to evaluate how you are currenlty using technology to support teaching and learning and to leverage apps and tools to be more effective in your use of technology as a means to challenge and support learners.

Aimed at classroom teacher, this fun and active course will model approaches and allow you to explore a variety of strategies to promote effective use of ICT in your classroom.

 


Professional Development Opportunity

We are pleased to make 12 places available on the SSAT Lead Practitioner accreditation programme.   
The programme offers significant opportunities for professional development and will include; 

Working towards SSAT Lead Practitioner (LP) accreditation – a nationally recognised standard for supporting colleagues in improving their practice. 



Completing an Action Research project if appropriate for your place of work supported by Jane Adamson and Mark Lloyd which can be used as evidence for the application.   


How to apply


There is a limit of 12 places on the programme.  Please ask Jane Adamson or Mark Lloyd for a copy of the pro-forma to apply. The application process has been kept very simple and straightforward and should not prove onerous for anyone interested in the programme.
Note that LP accreditation is normally available to all full time staff, who wish to drive leadership of learning and enable impact across school and beyond.  Part time staff who have a commitment to be involved will be considered.


The deadline for applications is 27 June 2018.  A panel will meet to look through the applications as quickly as possible thereafter. You will be notified by the morning of 4th July.

Enriching the curriculum

Dli museum, Durham City 20 May 1230 – 1500


Classroom teachers and leaders of history and humanities at KS2 and KS3 are invited to a FREE half day event at the dli museum to explore ways in which collaborative school projects, the museum service and local archives can help pupils better understand the human face of conflict.
The session will be led by museum staff with support from Durham County Archives. Pupils from Parkside Academy will also profile their EU funded historical investigation project with partners in a French school.

 


The session will introduce teachers to the museum and allow for hands on experience of some of the workshops which museum staff can offer pupils of different ages.


A light buffet lunch will be served on arrival.

PROGRAMME

  • Free entrance to museum – self guided visit
  • 1230 : Buffet lunch provided
  • 1300 : Aims and objectives of the day – Gabrielle Reddington
  • 1310 : Parkside Academy's collaborative project with Collège de Roisel
  • 1330 : The Durham at War website – Gill Parkes – Durham County Archives
  • 1345 : The dli offer –Cheryl Knight , Acting Manager
  • 1400 : Carousel of hands on workshops ( 20 minutes each ) led by museum education staff
