This two hour course explores the use of visual strategies to support children with Autism within a mainstream classroom. The course will offer a variety of practical examples, with delegates being able to take away a variety of practical ideas.

The content of the course will be illustrated with real life examples throughout in order to make the theory relevant to practice.

There will be opportunities throughout the session to ask questions and discuss possible scenarios.

Course Outcomes:

  • An understanding of visual strategies and how they can be used to support individuals with a diagnosis of ASD.
  • Practical ideas to implement within mainstream schools.

Year 6 writing – Understanding the revised framework for teacher assessment of writing at the end of KS 2.

Day Care Course Aims and Objectives

The aim of the training is to clarify the role and responsibilities of a Designated Safeguarding Lead in a day-care nursery. After the training Designated Safeguarding Lead's (DSL's) will:

• Be familiar with the legal framework around safeguarding and child protection

• Understand their role with regard to managing and minimising risks

• Be clear about their responsibilities with regard to the health and well-being of children

•Confidently recognise the signs and symptoms of abuse and be able to ensure staff in the nursery have appropriate training and guidance so they can do the same

• Understand how to assess risk in relation to child protection and use available tools for guidance

• Know how to report concerns to the appropriate agency

• Have the tools to develop a whistle blowing policy and procedures

• Understand their role in relation to managing allegations
