Apple Regional Training Centre - Coding with Swift Playgrounds

Are you interested in exploring coding on the iPad? Swift does an awesome job of bridging the gap between block style programming and proper  written code. Learn how to use Swift playgrounds to engage students in coding.  Attendees will also be explore how to control a range of robots, drones and other devices using Swift.

This event is suitable for anyone that works with children.

This course is suitable for: All Teachers and Teaching Assistants. A working knowledge of an iPad is helpful for this session.

Resources Required: iPad and the Swift Playgrounds app.

Apple has recently launched an accreditation scheme called “Apple Teacher”

Apple Teacher is not just about how to use an iPad, although you do learn lots of useful tips and tricks, its about how to use it for teaching & learning. Not only will you gain badges to demonstrate your proficiency at using the various apps but you will gain ideas on how to use it with your learners too.

What you will learn:

  • How to sign up for Apple Teacher
  • How to access the content of the courses
  • How to access the learning materials in the book store
  • We will also explore the iMovie app to see how it could be used to evidence learning and engage learners
  • How to gain your iPad badge

It’s suitable for: Any adults who want to use iPads for learning in schools

Resources Required: iPad and a personal Apple ID – You can create one here

If you are bringing your own iPad make sure you have iMovie  installed. iMovie is a free app.

We have a small number of iPads available to use as part of the training if required. Please let us know before the event if you would like to borrow one.

Apple Regional Training Centre - Rapping in English with Garageband

Looking for w ay to creatively use your iPads in English. Look no further Garageband makes the creation of rap backing tracks a breeze. Once you have your groove your learners just need to bring the rhymes. It's a great way to inspire your learners to write.

What you will learn:

  • How to create a backing track in Garageband
  • How to make use of Apple Loops
  • How to record your voice over your finished backing track.
  • How to share your masterpiece

It's suitable for: Any adults who want to use iPads to stimulate creative writing.

Resources Required: iPad and Garageband

If you are bringing your own iPad make sure you have Garageband installed. Garageband should be free of charge and if you need advice on how to get it please let us know.

Apple Regional Training Centre - Film making for the classroom

This course is designed to show you how to use the built in apps on the iPad to create engaging films.

 

We'll look at a range of apps you can use to create your films and how to tell a story using a five shot sequence.

We'll also give practical tips on how to improve the quality of your shots, how to make your film look professional by adding titles and music.


We'll also discuss additional equipment that can improve the quality of your iPad films.
 

 

This course is suitable for: Early Years, Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2 Teachers and Teaching Assistants. A working knowledge of an iPad is needed for this session.
