Course Aims and Objectives
The course will provide theory (what you must do legally re SEND in school) and practical advice (who and what is available re support for SEND in Sunderland) The course framework is based around the SENCo 55 standards which are grouped into five key headings for the five sessions.
Session 1 and 2: Professional context of the SENCo and Strategic development of the SEN policy and procedures - Wednesday 9th May 4.00 - 6.00pm
Session 3 and 4 : Co-ordinating SEN provision and Leading development and the support of colleagues - Wednesday 16th May 4.00 - 6.00pm
Session 5: Working in partnership with parents, families and other professionals - Wednesday 23rd May 4.00 - 6.00pm
Each session will be followed by 'fact finding' in schools and use of the CoP 2015.
Venue: The Training Room, Floor 1, Bunny Hill Centre
Time: 4.00 - 6.00pm
Aimed at: This 5 session training course is run for teaching staff who want to know more about the role of the SENCo or who could be 'supporting' a current SENCo or who have just started the role or are covering for a SENCo on maternity leave.
Cost: £250 (or £50 per session per delegate)
