We are working with schools and practitioners on Quality Assurance processes and documentation and the following documents/examples of best practice are recommended to support your school music education plan.
Sunderland School Music Education Plan - as required by the 2014 Ofsted report, Sunderland has produced a School Music Education Plan for the Hub to support evidencing and monitoring provision and progress in schools. The attached document lists the aims and objectives set by the Hub Board, and provides a useful template for schools to use to support Challenging conversations in schools.
These documents have been produce by North Tyneside Music Education Hub in partnership with schools in their Local Authority, which have been shared with Sunderland through our Quality Assurance Standardisation project.
Music Mark has also produced a useful framework to help your school with your music education plan.
To support evidencing of Quality Assurance and monitoring of progress for instrumental tuition, we are recommending schools work more closely with tutors to provide reasonable, clear documentation at a termly level of delivery both in WCET and group tuition. The following templates have been produced by North Tyneside Hub as working documents for schools to create with tutors. It is essential that any system implemented is easily to access for tutors so essential teaching time is not wasted searching for the paperwork. These are guidance documents. However we are working with schools and tutors to implement standardisation of processes in Sunderland and provide training for non specialist music teachers.
We will producing practice diaries for pupils to share with tutors, parents and classroom teachers from September. However there are a number of practice diaries available to download via the internet or buy via the internet.
